Welcome to another blog in the series of 'Joanne and Mike travel to
far-flung destinations to help those in need, learn about different
cultures, make some new friends, and search out general amusements and
good local beer'.
This time we will be heading due south, flying to Buenos Aires in Argentina - home of beef, tango, beef, soccer, and more beef. For the first couple of days, though, we are crossing the River Plate to Uruguay - where we will be taking in a soccer game with 65,000 other rabid fans, go on a wine tour, and hang out for a night or two at a beach location that is much more popular in January than November.
Our build in Argentina is based in a suburb of the very large city of Buenos Aires. We are staying right downtown in the artsy section of BA (you are much more cool if you call it BA), and driving to a suburb for our build. Not sure exactly what sort of work we will be doing yet - but I think it is going to be a 'starter home'. R&R at the end of the build consists of a trip to a Gaucho Estancia (cowboy ranch), and a boat ride. Buenos Aires is purported to be the fourth noisiest city in the world...we'll see how that goes, but we have packed our ear plugs just in case.
